For Core and Immersion teachers!

Wendy or another AIM facilitator will come to your school/board and will customize training based on the needs of your teachers.

We have pilot tested this training option and it is something that teachers are loving! This is a highly personalized learning approach, where we come to your school/group of schools in your district to work with your own students. Any number of teachers from the school/district may observe, with approval from the principal of the school.

Examples of possible training options:

AIM First Class

We will demonstrate AIM classes for students who have not yet been introduced to the methodology, so that you and they experience what an AIM First class is like

Specialty demonstrations

Based on how far along in the implementation of the methodology you are, we will design demonstrations of specific AIM activities, routines or other aspects of the methodology in consultation with you

Observations

For teachers who have used the methodology for a while and would like feedback on their practice, we will observe and follow-up after the class with recommendations to teachers

We also offer additional mentoring/workshop support in-school as requested and in combination with the above demonstrations and/or observations

The Gesture Approach

The AIM is a methodology that supports students by providing strategies and techniques that ensure student language acquisition and a high level of engagement. The Gesture Approach allows students to visualize, hear, say and 'feel' the language simultaneously, and this results in rapid proficiency development.

A Literacy- and Arts-Based Approach

Through the use of story and drama, songs, raps, and dances, students are moving to the language as they create meaning. Scaffolding and cooperative learning strategies help all students - the shy, weak, and strong - to find great support and success.

High-Frequency Vocabulary

One of the most essential aspects of AIM that ensures student success is the high-frequency vocabulary (Pared-Down Language) that threads throughout every aspect of this methodology. AIM is designed such that each word is repeated extensively, allowing students to develop a strong foundation for language proficiency.
